You absolutely must guarantee that your display color depth is 24bit or 32bit. Right click on your desktop and click on properties then click on the settings tab, (note: the wording may be slightly different for WinXP and/or WinV). If you are using 2 machines then you must do this on both machines. If your display will not go that high and/or you lose too much resolution at that depth then you have no choice other than to upgrade your video card.
You need enough display resolution to show both the poker client and WinHoldEm at the same time such that the two windows do not overlap. If your display will not go this high and/or will only go this high with a color depth less than 24bit then you must upgrade your video card. 1024x768 is the bare minimum possible. 1280x1024 is even better and 1600x1200 or higher is recommended.
You MUST use one of the following two window style/theme settings:
- The Windows XP default window style with a window title bar height of 29 pixels
- The Windows 2K classic window style with a window title bar height of 22 pixels
The WinHoldEm site profiles depend on the fact that the poker client running on
your machine renders the window at the same size that was seen on the machine that
was being used at the time the profile was created. The size of the title bar (which is selectable)
matters because it can change the size of the client area of the window. The client
area is everything inside the window border and title bar. The best style you can use
is the Win2K classic style which has a 3 pixel window border and an 18 pixel title bar
and a 1 pixel divider between title bar and client (total of 22 pixels above the client area).
The XP style consumes an addition 7 pixels above the client and in most cases that style
will cause the client area to be 7 scanlines shorter which is fine as long as you are using
a site profile that can handle this. If WinHoldEm is not finding the poker window
(after pressing the green button) then chances are that the client size of the poker
window is not being recognized by the site profile.
To change window styles/themes do the following:
Windows 2000: right click on the desktop then click Properties then click Appearance and
then in the Scheme list select either Windows Classic or Windows Standard.
Windows XP: right click on the desktop then click Properties then click Themes and
then in the Theme list select Windows Classic.
Windows Vista: right click on the desktop then click Personalize then click on either
Theme or Color and Appearance and then select either Windows Classic or Windows Standard.
If you know that your style/theme is correct and your poker client window is sized correctly
and WinHoldEm is still not finding the window then you probably have a site setting issue.
Font Smoothing
You want to disable the default font-smoothing option on the machine where you are launching
your poker clients so that the poker clients that defer to the default windows setting will
render crisp clean text. Windows will refer to this setting if the client software in question
doesn't specify what it wants. Note that you're using 2 machines with bring, you don't need
to do this on your WinHoldEm machine.
To change the font-smoothing default:
Windows 2000: right click on the desktop
then click Properties
then click the Effects tab
then disable/uncheck "Smooth edges of screen fonts"
Windows XP: right click on the desktop
then click Properties
then click the Appearance tab
then click the Effects button
then disable/uncheck
"Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts"
Windows Vista:
Microsoft WindowsXP ClearType Font
WinXP users with an LCD display may need to disable MS ClearType font.
WinXP ClearType on an LCD display can interfere with the WinHoldEm scraper.

You must have a working site profile otherwise WinHoldEm will not be able to connect to and/or read the site properly. You can download all of the default profiles by clicking on WinHoldEm menu/Install/Profiles. You can read about scrapable sites HERE
The default site profiles were built on a Windows 2000 system with U.S. English localization settings. And so this means that the poker clients that were scraped were rendered under these conditions. If your installed version of windows is not U.S. English then there is a chance that the poker client will render text differently and that might mean that the scraper might not recognize certain text based values properly (i.e. player balances and bets). If this applies to you then your only recourse is to change to standrd U.S. English localization settings and/or re-install windows with U.S. English settings.
If you use the mouse with your left hand and you've changed the button settings to be reversed such that the right mouse button will be seen as the left button then the autoplayer might get confused when it tries to click buttons. You will probably need to change back to the default mouse button settings.
If you think you've done everything needed but you still can't connect to the window then
this means one of 3 things:
a) you really haven't done all of the above correctly
b) you don't have a site profile for your target site
c) your site profile is out of date.
Your only options at this point are to recheck your work and/or contact a reseller
(see the resellers link on the home page) or contact support
If all else fails you can find support HERE. If you decide to contact others regarding your situation then be prepared to send a screen shot of your situation so that we can verify that you really did everything required. Most of the time the user misses a step. Screen scraping is a visually intensive activity and so you're not likely to get support without a screen shot that lets us see what you're seeing. If you're not willing to send a screen shot to make life easier for us to support you then be prepared to not get any support.
The following optional sound files can be installed into your winholdem install folder:
nuts.wav - will sound when your alli formula is true
sitin.wav - will sound when your play formula decides to sitin
sitout.wav - will sound when your play formula decides to sitout
leave.wav - will sound when your play formula decides to leave the table
occluded.wav - will sound when the poker window is occluded (occlusion alarm must be enabled)
nexthand.wav - will sound when the hand resets
If the sound file does not exist then no sound will be played.
These files may be any valid .wav file
It is recommended that the sound be 1 second or less in length.
Note that nuts.wav will play anytime alli is true even if you are not playing in a no-limit game.
